North West farmers benefit from over £5m - with more to come from Defra

RDPE has offered just over £4.5 million in Northwest Livestock Programme performance grants and, following the 30th September round closing date, there are a further 150 applications, to the value of approximately £850,000, which will be processed by early November.

This means that by early November 2011, North West livestock farmers will have received grant offers to the value of £5.3 million, of which around £3m has currently been claimed for small scale animal health and welfare, nutrient management or resource efficiency improvements available in mid-November.

The September 2011 round was the last North West round, as the grants are to be replaced by a national Rural Development Programme for England grant scheme being launched by Defra, details of which will be available in mid-November.
