MAINTAINING a good soil structure has a key role to play in a sustainable agriculture and reducing the risks of diffuse pollution.

Many livestock producers consider soil compaction to be the curse of the arable farmer, yet how many grassland farms have the odd wet or poor field?

This on farm workshop for farmers in the Eden catchment will examine a soil profile and discuss the impact of compaction from livestock and machinery, look at the options available through cultivation techniques and the application of nutrients for better grassland management.

Includes: Sward lifter/Aerator demonstration and Demonstration of PLANET / Nutrient Management Software

Date: Wednesday 28th July 10-30am to 2pm
