Rearing more lambs - the key to profitability (Carlisle, Cumbria)

ON behalf of Defra, this ADAS run meeting is to help managers and stock-keepers review welfare issues and be brought up-to-date on the latest ideas and developments.

Significant losses of new born lambs, as well as many lost before birth due to infectious abortion or inadequate feeding, continues to be of great concern and represents a huge economic loss to the industry.

This event is one of 20 workshops being held throughout England between November 09 and January 2010. The workshop will consist of short talks from both an ADAS husbandry specialist and a nationally recognised specialist sheep veterinarian.

The focus of this meeting will be on the period from 8 weeks before lambing to 6 weeks post lambing. Correct nutrition, good husbandry and disease control are the main areas to be covered.

Where: Shepherd Inn and Auctioneer, Rosehill Estate, Carlisle CA1 2RR
When: Wednesday 20th January 10-30pm to 12-30pm
