Guest speakers Angus and Duncan Nelless (Thistleyhaugh, Morpeth) have been members of the Donkin Rig beef and sheep monitor farm steering group since 2010. Angus and Duncan will give a talk on their business improvements and personal gains achieved through involvement with the monitor farm project.
Topics will include:
- Reducing inputs without compromising performance in a beef herd
- How EID has been used as a management tool in the sheep flock since 2007
- Recent New Zealand study tour experience - grassland and sheep production
A farm walk, led by John Gate, accompanied by Darrell Irwin (Willows Vet Group) plus other industry advisors that have been actively involved in work at Langford Farm. Key focus areas will be highlighted during the walk, with opportunities to discuss the changes so far, benefits seen and future plans to address grassland productivity, health, welfare and biosecurity.
