Alternative Water Supplies - Chipping, Lancashire
Weigh up cost-effective ways to make the most of natural water sources at this FREE demonstration event
Water is an essential input on all livestock farms. The rising cost of mains water combined with the increasing frequency of water shortages means that more of us are looking towards alternative sources of water and making more of any water that is freely available.
Come along to this FREE demo event and find out about alternatives to mains water and how you can use water more sustainably on your farm to improve profitability.
Explore the potential for harvesting rainwater and utilising it effectively, as well as the different methods of water extraction (ram pump, pasture pump, solar pump, borehole and rainwater harvesting) available for providing drinking water for livestock.
Speakers:
- Dr Martyn Silgram, senior researcher with ADAS, will compare different methods of water extraction and their relative costs along with the pros and cons of each system. Some of these systems will be demonstrated on the day.
- Andy Taylor from Promar will be talking about water savings and grants currently available to help fund on-farm rainwater harvesting.
- Barrie Jackson from Receau will look at the potential for rainwater harvesting on the host farm. The Stotts already have a system in place for collecting and re-using rainwater which will form part of the discussion.
